Competitiveness2024
Nordic Tank has launched Competitiveness2024 project in which company is investing nearly 1,4 M€ for production machinery during project period.
Nordic Tank’s market share no longer enables growth in the domestic market. About a third of the company’s turnover already comes from exports, but in order to improve its competitiveness in the global market, the company must invest in increasing the efficiency and self-sufficiency of its production process in order to survive in cost competition. Minimizing freight costs and self-sufficiency in manufacturing improves agility, minimizes supply chain transportation costs and carbon emissions, and reduces sensitivity to supply chain disturbances. In the traditional field of manufacturing industry, competition against larger international players is no longer possible with a decentralized supply chain. Thanks to the project, it is possible for the company to produce the kind of preforms itself, which now have to be produced with the help of a network of subcontractors.

Materials for CO2-neutral processes in resource-intensive industries
MASCOT is a Business Finland funded ecosystem project, active in 2022-2025, of six companies and two research institutes to tackle the material challenges in emerging fossil-free processes of circular economy and hydrogen technology, and take the forerunner position in the international growth markets.
Finnish companies are pioneers in the development of carbon-neutral technologies and processes, and the results obtained in MASCOT will significantly improve their reliability, safety and competitiveness. Industrial operation conditions in the cutting-edge processes of circular economy and hydrogen technology are clearly different from those in conventional ones and, therefore, materials used in the equipment and assets need to respond to completely new requirements. Tackling this challenge this calls for research and research-based innovations in many areas related to materials technology: material, design, manufacturing and process innovations.
